Laura Batalla Adam (Barcelona, 1985) holds two Bachelors’ degrees in Political Science and Journalism from Universitat Pompeu Fabra. In 2010, she graduated from the College of Europe with a Master’s degree in European Political and Administrative Studies. She currently works as a policy advisor to a member of the EU-Turkey Joint Parliamentary Committee. Since September 2014, she is also Secretary General of the Friends of Turkey group in the European Parliament. Laura Batalla is an independent Turkey analyst. Her research focuses on Turkish Foreign Policy in general and EU-Turkey relations in particular. She has published articles in Turkish Policy Quarterly, Turkish Review and other journals. Laura is a member of Turkish Connections Platform (TCP), a networking platform to facilitate open dialogue and cooperation on matters related to Turkey and Europe. She currently co-chairs its EU Communications group. With an aim to have an in-depth knowledge of Turkey and Turkey’s accession to the EU, she has participated in several civil society projects in Turkey having also worked in the Ministry for EU Affairs in the summer of 2011. As a result of her expertise, Laura has embarked in a series of projects in order to bring Europe closer to Turkey and Turkey closer to Europe.
